Perched above a rocky escarpment, HYDE: Muskoka Ridge marks the inaugural retreat of the HYDE brand—a small yet ambitious startup redefining wellness through the healing embrace of nature.
The project responds to the clients’ need for a design that is both efficient and immersive. Two wooden volumes rise up from the rocky terrain, angled to optimize views and create privacy, while minimizing the building’s footprint. Elevated above the landscape, the architecture draws the eye outward to the vast horizon—a perspective that expands the senses and stills the mind.

Inside, the warmth of wood envelops every surface, its scent grounding guests in the landscape. A granite base anchors the structure, while vertical timber elements evoke Muskoka’s storied barns, blending authenticity with thoughtful innovation.

At the heart of the retreat, a shared spa immerses guests in the natural environment. A sauna nestled within the trees, a relaxation room illuminated by secluded skylights, and an outdoor shower under open skies offer spaces for renewal.
